ENR Southeast's Best Projects Award Winners Showcase Impressive Achievements of 2020

The year 2020, as well as much of 2021, certainly has been a period of time that many would like to forget. But, as this year’s Southeast Best Projects Awards’ honorees show, the region’s contractors, design firms and project owners nevertheless delivered an impressive array of outstanding construction achievements worthy of commemorating.

From a $320-million project in Atlanta that provides the region with a reliable source of drinking water for the next 100 years, to a rapid, 22-day construction of a Covid-19 healthcare facility project in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and in many other places across the Southeast, this year’s Best Projects award winners showcase a wide variety of construction and design excellence.

In all, of the roughly 95 entries that ENR Southeast received, our independent panel of jurors chose 35 as worthy of recognition. This year’s judges included: Keith Douglas, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co., Atlanta; Tahir Edwards, The Weitz Co., West Palm Beach, Fla.; Jennifer Naizer, Pond, Peachtree Corners, Ga.; Cary Perkins, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, Greenville, S.C.; Ray Riddle, Holder Construction, Atlanta; Bobby Teachey, Brownstone Construction Group, North Charleston, S.C.; Leigh Thomas, WGI Inc., San Antonio, Texas; and Ron Whalen, Roger B. Kennedy Construction, Altamonte Springs, Fla.

This year, our judges nominated four finalists for ENR Southeast’s 2021 Project of the Year honor. These finalists will be announced via ENR.com soon, and then recognized for this achievement via ENR Southeast’s Best Projects Awards event—along with all of our other award winners.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winning projects!
